Mackenzie Nolte scored her 2nd and 3rd goals of the season in 4-0 win over SFU
Box Score ELLENSBURG, Wash (Sept. 20) – Freshman Mackenzie Nolte (Marysville, WA, Marysville-Pilchuck ) scored twice as the Central Washington University women's soccer team defeated Simon Fraser University, 4-0, for the team's first conference win of the season.

The win moves the Wildcats to 2-4-0 overall, 1-1-0 GNAC as the Clan fall to 0-6-0 overall, 0-2-0 GNAC.

The Wildcats jumped on the Clan early. In the 11th minute Bailey Martoncik (Maple Valley, WA, Tahoma ) corralled a goalie misplay in the box and hammered home the first goal of the match.

"We didn't win a lot of 50-50 balls versus Western Washington University the other day," Head coach Michael Farrand said. "A team goal today was win the 50-50 ball. We were winning a lot of those balls and it was a lot better today."

In the 26th minute freshman Whitney Lowe (Olympia, WA, Black Hills ) dribbled down the right flank of the defense and lobbed a cross through the middle that was headed into the back of the net by Keilin Farrand (Ellensburg, WA, Ellensburg ) to inflate the Wildcat lead to 2-0.

Senior Kayla Lipston (Federal Way, WA, Decatur) earned her first shutout of the young season. She grabbed three saves on the day.

The Wildcat offense found its groove as they racked up 21 shots with eight of them testing the Clan's keeper.

Nolte proved lighting can strike twice as she ballooned the Wildcat lead to 3-0 in the 48th minute, then scored again in the 90th minute.

"Mackenzie had a stellar day today," Farrand explained. "She was very good all day long."

The Wildcats will hit the road for a three-game road trip. Their next game will be Sept. 23, at Montana State University Billings at 3 p.m.

"I'm just happy we could pull out our first conference win," Nolte said. "We have been working really hard at practice."
