Pivotal Week Ahead For Wildcat Soccer

ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Oct.19) – After an overtime victory at Northwest Nazarene the Central Washington University soccer team plays two matches at home, with a chance to pick up some much needed points.

Lexsi Manning's equalizer in the 81st minute gave the Wildcats life and paved the way for Mackenzie Nolte's winning goal, just 34 seconds into overtime.

"We went into overtime knowing that we needed to finish the game," Nolte stated afterward.  "We knew that we were going to do whatever it took.  Lauren [Duty] was able to gain the corner off of Shaina's [Mitchell] throw and I took off toward the near post.  I just wanted to get a body on it.  It was mostly Lauren's work; I just finished it off."

The victory lifts Central to a 3-5-0 record in Great Northwest Athletic Conference matches.  Overall, the Wildcats are 5-8-0.

With only four matches remaining in the season, the next two are of the utmost importance.  Central Washington is slated to play Seattle Pacific and Simon Fraser in Ellensburg.  Both of who sit just above the Wildcats in the GNAC standings.

Seattle Pacific's GNAC record of 5-3-1 has netted them 16 points.  The Falcons are currently third in the conference table.

Simon Fraser currently shares fourth place in the conference table with Montana State Billings.  The Clan has recorded four wins and a draw, giving them 13 points.

Hovering just outside the postseason bubble is Central Washington.  With nine points in conference play, the Wildcats hope to come away with six points this week.  Central does have a game in hand on Seattle Pacific.

The Falcons are coming off a 3-1 loss against No. 2 Western Washington.  In their last five games, the Falcons have gone 4-1.

Hannah Huesers has scored 11 times for SPU, a team high.  Isabel Farrell and Mickayla Mury have each added four assists.

Molly Stinson has played all 1210 minutes in net for the Falcons.  She has posted a goals against average of 0.82, while making 47 saves on 114 shots.

Seattle Pacific has outscored opponents 20-11 this season, with 12 goals coning in the second half.

The Wildcats went 1-1-0 last season against the Falcons, recording a win in Seattle (1-0).

Simon Fraser enters the week with a 4-3-1 record in GNAC play.  The Clan fell in their last game to Concordia, 2-0.

Christina Dickson leads the Clan with six goals and three assists.

Priya Sandhu has played 1,032 minutes in net for SFU.  She has posted a goals against average of 1.05, allowing 12 goals on 121 shots.

Earlier this season, the Clan defeated the Wildcats, 1-0, on a late goal by Dickson in Burnaby.

Whitney Lowe and Cassie Ripley lead the Wildcats' offense with four goals each.  Nolte leads CWU with six assists.  Lowe and Nolte are tied atop the team ranks with 10 points.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Thursday, while Saturday's match will begin at 11 a.m.
