ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Mar. 24) – The Central Washington University softball team will travel to Oregon to take on Western Oregon University and Concordia University in four pivotal Great Northwest Athletic Conference contests on Mar. 25 and 26.

The Wildcats are fresh of a sweep of Western Washington University and sit with an 18-7 record with an even 6-6 mark in the GNAC.  The 6-6 record is good enough for fourth place in the conference and with a successful trip to Oregon the Wildcats can potentially move into a tie for second place.

Concordia sits atop the GNAC standings with a 5-1 record, and swept the Wildcats earlier this month, and also last swept the Vikings in Bellingham last weekend.

Western Oregon has lost its last three games and comes into Friday's matchup with a 3-5 conference record, 10-13 overall.  The Wildcats swept the Wolves back on Mar. 6 by scores of 7-5 and 7-6.

Freshman pitcher Kayla Smith has been red hot in her last three starts, and in the past six games she has picked up four wins and carries a 1.75 earned run average.  Smith earned 7-3 victory in game one against WWU and notched a relief victory in the 13-12 walkoff victory on Sunday.  Smith's performance last week earned her GNAC Pitcher of the Week honors.

Also producing for CWU is first baseman Kailyn Campbell who is now batting .424, which ranks sixth in the conference.  Her 39 hits so far lead the conference, six of which came in her last two games.

Senior catcher Austin Wilkerson saw her 25-game hit streak come to an end, but she still carries a 27 game on base streak.

Fridays matchup with Western Oregon will be played in Hillsboro, Ore at Hillsboro Stadiuam  located at 4450 NW 229th ave. Hillsboro, OR 97124.
