ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Sept. 28) – After taking home three points from Seattle Pacific last week, the Central Washington University soccer team is back in Ellensburg for a pair of Great Northwest Athletic Conference matches.

The Wildcats take on Western Oregon on Thursday (Sept. 29) and Montana State Billings on Saturday (Oct. 1).

The Wolves enter play with a 4-4-0 overall record and a 1-2-0 mark in the GNAC.  Western Oregon went 1-1-0 last week, following a 3-1 loss at Montana State Billings on Thursday and a 2-1 win over Northwest Nazarene on Saturday.

"Western Oregon is fresh off their win over NNU," CWU Head Coach Michael Farrand said.  "Always a tough game for us, Steve always brings the best out of his girls.  They are physical and it can be tough to match up with them.  It is important to put our game in place and keep the ball on the deck and play possession soccer."

Taylor Higa leads the Wolves and the GNAC in points (10) and goals (4).  Goalkeeper Caitlin Kastelic is third in the GNAC in saves per game (5.17) and fourth in overall saves with 31.

Kastelic is a freshman from Hillsboro, Oregon.  While attending Glencoe High School, Kastelic notched three all-league selections.

The Yellowjackets enter play with a 1-4-2 record and a 1-0-1 record in the GNAC.  MSUB opened GNAC play with a 3-1 win over Western Oregon last Thursday, before a 0-0 draw against Concordia.

Dana Lubieniecki leads the Yellowjackets with six points on three goals.  MSU has scored seven goals on the season.  In goal, Lili Delgadillo has recorded one clean sheet and 35 saves.

"Wojtek [Krakowiak] has done a great job at Billings and they have been with us in the conference tournament before, they've been n the top 10 before, they've had a solid program for a long time," Farrand added.  "We need to get off on the right foot and start both games by committing to attacking soccer and look to pick up points in both games this week."

Central Washington opened GNAC play with a 0-2 loss to Simon Fraser at home in Ellensburg.  The Wildcats recovered with a 1-0 victory over Seattle Pacific, culminating in the 83rd minute on Mackenzie Nolte's game-winning goal.

The Wildcats are just outside the Top 25, as one of three teams receiving votes.

Nolte's game-winner was her second of the season, tying Keilin Farrand for the team lead in goals.  Farrand is also tied for the team lead in assists with two.  She outright leads the team in total points with six.

The Wildcats have nine different goal scorers so far on the season, while 12 total players have recorded points.

Freshman goalkeeper Emily Holt has recorded 46 saves in eight games.  She has notched four clean sheets and a save percentage of .885.  Her save percentage puts her 26th in the Division II.

Central Washington is searching for its first home GNAC victory of the season.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Thursday and noon on Saturday.
