Desi Storey said. "I thought we did a number of things well last weekend. We need to be more consistent on both sides of the plate. We've gotten hits when we needed to, but we need to be more consistent in our hitting, and hopefully get things going earlier."
SCOUTING CORBAN
The Warriors enter the week at 6-6 after splitting a four-game series with Simpson University last weekend. The Warriors' offense produced gaudy numbers in the first three games, before running out of steam in game four.
In the first three gmaes of the series, the Warriors' offense struck for seven, 12, then 23 runs. They were shutout in game four, falling 4-0. Despite scoring seven runs in game one, the Warriors fell 8-7.
Drew Loera leads the Warriors' offense, opening the season with a .462 batting average through six games. He's slugged two homeruns and driven in 12 runs, both team highs. The Warriors are hitting .320 on the season, with six players with 25 or more at-bats hitting over .300.
On the mound, Kris Jackson has made three starts and his compiled a 2-1 record, with an earned run average of 4.15. Jackson has allowed 10 runs, holding opponents to an average of .292. He has struck out 13 hitters and walked only three. As a unit, the Warriors' pitching staff holds an ERA of 4.60 and opposing hitters have a batting average of .264.
LAST TIME OUT
Griffin Davis got the start in game one, hurling seven innings of shutout baseball. He allowed just one hit and struck out five hitters.
Joe Done closed it out for Central, tossing two innings in relief.
Justin Hampson and
Dustin Braun each had a pair of hits and drove in a run.
Ty Deckwa and
Christopher Dalto each had a hit and an RBI as well.
In game two,
Connor Stevenson held the Urban Knights scoreless in his first start as a Wildcat. Stevenson allowed just four hits over seven innings and he struck out three hitters.
Offensively, Braun finished with a solo homerun, two hits, and a run batted in.
Jaden Hassell,
Colton Bunt, and
Michael Peter each chipped in with an RBI.
Mackenzie Gaul got the start in the day two opener, tossing five innings and allowing two runs. He struck out six hitters and allowed four hits.
Seth Pedersen (0-1) was charged with the loss. In 1.2 innings, Pedersen allowed two hits, three walks, five runs, and he struck out a pair of hitters. The Wildcats tallied 11 hits as a team, including three from Decwka. Deckwa also scored twice.
James Smith III,
Michael Heinevetter, and
Mitch Lesmeister each recorded two hits. Smith and
Jaden Hassell each drove in a run.
JJ Asinas got the call in game two. The sophomore right-hander went 4.1 innings, allowed four runs on six hits, walked a pair, and struck out three.
Keegan Kast (1-0) got the win in relief. Kast went 3.1 innings, allowed one run on four hits, and struck out three hitters. Deckwa once again finished with multiple hits, this time he also drove in a pair of runs. He also scored three times. Smith finished 3-for-6, with three runs scored, and two runs batted in.
Yi-Fan Pan notched two hits, scored a run, and drove one in.
Christopher Dalto recorded to hits, one run scored, and two runs batted in. Heinevetter rounded out the multi-hit efforts for the Wildcats, finishing 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Jesse Unger also recorded an RBI.
