The Cavaliers hold a 5-9-1 record overall and are 3-5-1 in GNAC play. They are coming off of a 2-1 loss to No. 7 Western Washington.
Concordia has won three of its last five games, all five contests were decided by a single goal. Three of the Cavs' last six games have gone to overtime. In two of those games, double overtime was also required.
Kyra Radcliffe leads the Cavaliers in goals with seven. She has more than doubled the production of the next closest Concordia player, Jaida Nyby, who has buried three goals on the year. The Cavs have scored a total of 13 goals, more than half coming from Radcliffe. Also involved with nearly half of the Cavaliers goals is Madison Grande. She has recorded five assists on the season.
Hailey Asato has spent the vast majority of time in the woodwork. She has appeared in all 15 games, starting 13. Asato has compiled 1,226 minutes of play and allowed 19 goals. She has made 53 saves on a total of 170 shots faced. Asato has two clean sheets and a goals against average of 1.39 on the year.
LAST TIME OUT
Teanna Lathum gave the Wildcats an early 1-0 in the 13
th minute with her second goal of the season.
The Yellowjackets responded with an equalizer in the 45
th minute, striking with just seconds left in the first half. They found the go-ahead goal in the 75
th minute off a corner kick.
CWU v CU HISTORY
Since 2004, the Wildcats and Cavaliers have met eight times. Central Washington is 1-5-2 and are 0-2-1 in the last three meetings.
Last season Central fell to a No. 6 ranked Concordia squad, 2-1, in Ellensburg.
Central found the score sheet first. In the 27
th minute,
Olivia Olason fired a direct kick into the Cavaliers' 18, where it found the head of a Concordia defender. The headed service caromed over the keeper and buried itself in the back of the net for a 1-0 CWU lead.
The Wildcats' defense held until the 76
th minute when Brenda Uribe found an equalizer on a headed goal. Just 70 seconds later, Karlie Hurley buried a shot for a 2-1 advantage.
Earlier this season, the Wildcats and Cavaliers played to a 1-1 draw. Radcliffe put Concordia ahead in the eighth minute, before
Sydney Lowe buried the equalizer in the 12
th minute. Neither offense was able to find the go-ahead marker, forcing overtime. As the second half came and went without any scoring, so too did both overtime periods.
GNAC TABLE UPDATE
Central Washington is currently fourth in the GNAC standings with 13 points. Montana State Billings moved to fifth after the 2-1 victory over Central Washington. They now have 12 points in conference play. Concordia University is also chasing Central Washington, just three points behind with 10. Ahead of the Wildcats in third is Western Oregon with 20 points. Northwest Nazarene has also managed to stay in the fray, slipping ahead of Concordia by a single point.
Montana State Billings sits sixth in the GNAC table with nine points.
Western Washington has already clinched a GNAC Championships berth, leading the conference with 27 points. Behind the Vikings is Seattle Pacific with 21 points.
Central Washington has three games remaining on the schedule for a total of nine available points. Against remaining opponents, the Wildcats are 1-0-1 on the season with games coming against Concordia, Northwest Nazarene, and Western Oregon. The Wildcats played to a 1-1 draw against the Cavaliers in Portland, Oregon earlier this season and defeated Northwest Nazarene 1-0 last week. The Crimson and Black close the season against Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Oregon.
