ELLENSBURG, Wash. — The Central Washington University women's soccer team travels to Simon Fraser University to open Great Northwest Athletic Conference play.

MATCH INFORMATION
At Simon Fraser
Thursday, Sept. 26
6:00 p.m. PT
Burnaby, B.C., CAN
Terry Fox Field

QUOTABLE
"Simon Fraser is continually one of the top teams in the GNAC," CWU Head Coach Michael Farrand said.  "They've gotten off to a bit of a slow start, but it's been on one of their toughest non-conference schedules.  We have showed we can attack and score as well, but defensively we have struggled together.  Conference play is a whole new animal.  For us, conference play is everything as we didn't get the results we wanted out of our non-conference schedule."

SCOUTING SIMON FRASER | ROSTER | SCHEDULE | 2018 STATS | 2019 STATS
Simon Fraser enters the week at 0-3-1 on the season after most recently falling to No. 21 Stanislaus State University.

The Clan opened the 2019 season with a draw to Cal State San Marcos, 0-0, before dropping their next three matches to the University of San Diego, Sonoma State, and Stanislaus State.  Simon Fraser fell to the Tritons and Wolves 3-0, before a 1-0 defeat to Sonoma.

Carli Grosso, Emma Pringle, and Carmen Brown all return as seniors for Annie Hamel.  Both Pringle and Grosso started in and appeared in all 17 games for the Clan in 2018.  Pringle has scored 10 or more goals in each of her last two seasons.  In 2018, Pringle accumulated 11 goals and two assists for 24 points.  Her season-high in points came during her sophomore year, where she amassed 14 goals and three assists.

Simon Fraser lost Jenna-lee Baxter to graduation following the 2018 season.  She tied for the team's lead in goals (11) and added 10 assists for a team-high 32 points.

Nicole Anderson returns in goal for her sophomore campaign after making 15 starts last year.  She allowed 16 goals on 176 shots.  Anderson posted a record of 9-5-1 with five clean sheets.  She has been the only keeper Simon Fraser has used thus far in 2019.  Anderson has stopped 31 shots through four games.

Simon Fraser has fired off 23 shots through their first four games, but have yet to register a shot on goal.  Kiara Buono leads the Clan with eight shots, while Giuliana Zaurrini sits in second with five.

LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats fell in a 3-2 affair to Hawaii Pacific University and are now 2-3-0 on the year.

Olivia Sloan started the scoring in the 10th minute.  She sent a headed effort over the goal line off a service from Sydney Lowe.  The Sharks leveled the score on a goal from Ebony Madrid a minute and a half later.

Peyton Vogel netted her first collegiate goal in the 51st minute, but again the Sharks had a quick answer.  Madrid scored her second of the contest, before Kalyi Ann Yoshioka put HPU ahead 3-2 in the 84th minute.

Central Washington fired off 18 shots against the Sharks, nine of which were on goal.

CWU v SFU HISTORY
This will mark the 23rd contest between Simon Fraser and Central Washington since 2002.  The Wildcats hold a 12-9-1 record against the Clan since '02, but Simon Fraser has claimed the last four contests.

Central Washington's last victory over SFU came on Oct. 24, 2015.  Reilly Retz started the scoring in the 15th minute for Central with her fourth goal of the 2015 campaign, leveling the score at 1-1.  Aubrey Rodgers scored four minutes later, pushing CWU ahead 2-1.

Mackenzie Nolte then scored her third goal of the season, with an assist from Allie Bohnett, to give the Wildcats a 3-1 cushion.  Central added a second insurance marker in the 51st minute on a goal from Cassie Ripley.  The Wildcats' final goal came from Whitney Lowe in the 80th minute. Keilin Farrand sent a through ball past Simon Fraser's defense for the assist.

Christina Dickson added a late goal for SFU, but the Wildcats held on for the victory.

The last time the Wildcats came away from Burnaby with a victory was on Oct. 23, 2014.

Nolte scored both of the Wildcats' goals in the victory.  A mishap from the goalkeeper allowed her first goal in the 17th minute.  After a tying goal from SFU's Elishah Jilling, Nolte scored a headed effort in the 65th minute for the go-ahead marker.
