QUOTABLE
"The guys are super excited to get this season going, as well as the staff." CWU Head Coach Desi Storey said. "They have worked very hard to improve through the fall and we think we are a pretty solid team at this point."
"Coach Gau played for me here and he has done a good job." "I think we have a bunch of key guys, including our COVID-19 seniors."

SCOUTING SAINT MARTINS
Like the Wildcats, Friday's game will be the first to begin the season. Both teams are eager to get back out on the field, and see if the extra work they put in all year can push them ahead of the competition.
Before the cancellation of last year's 2020 season, The SMU Saint's posted an 8-7-1 overall record, holding a 3-4-1 record in the GNAC Conference. In away games, the Saints held a 6-6 record showing they've had the ability to win on the road.
Last season the Saints offense posted a team batting average of .264 with 29 extra base hits. The Saints offense has the ability to apply some pressure as they averaged 6.5 runs per game over their 16 game 2020 season. The Saints defense is no slouch either, holding a 5.39 ERA and limiting opponents to a .278 batting average last year.

LAST FIRST TIME OUT
Friday's contest will mark the first game for Central Washington after the cancellation of last year's 2020 season due to COVID-19.

The Crimson and Black finished last season with a 6-12 mark, including a 3-5 record in GNAC play.

COVID DISCLAIMER
Per Washington state, Kittitas County Health Board, and the GNAC spectators will not be allowed at events.  Schedules are subject to change at any time pending decisions from the health board and other local and regional authorities.
