Box Score 2 LACEY, Wash.—The Central Washington baseball team broke even taking one of the two games against Saint Martin's on day one.

SERIES OPENER
The 'Cats were off to a hot start today. In the bottom of the first, a triple by Justin Hampson drove in Zach Berryman for the opening run of the series. Austin Ohland quickly followed up Hampson with a double to drive him in. After one the 'Cats held the lead 2-0.
The Saint's were finally able to string together hits in the fourth, driving in only a single run on a sacrifice fly. After four the Saint's had cut the lead in half, 2-1
The 'Cats found life again in the fifth, Jason Hill was driven in for the run on an RBI sacrifice fly by Zach Berryman. The 'Cats continued this push into the sixth with a double by Adam Fahsel scoring Michael Peter. Zach Berryman went right back to it driving the ball through left field to drive in Fahsel. After six the 'Cats were leading 5-1.
From the seventh on the 'Cats could not find any luck at the plate. In the seventh the Saint's plated two runs to bring the deficit to one. In the eighth they would find their game tying run through a wild pitch from the 'Cats. After battling through the ninth, the 'Cats finally fell to the Saint's on an RBI single to center field. The final score was 6-5.
Austin Ohland finished game one strong going three for five at the dish including two doubles. Zach Berryman was the RBI leader for the 'Cats with two of the five. Dillon Larsen had an effective day on the mound, going seven innings and allowing only four runs and two walks. Larsen struck out fifteen of the twenty-one outs he pitched.
GAME 2
Game two was a quiet yet effective outing for the 'Cats. Dylan Weese pitched all seven innings for the 'Cats and picked up his first win of the season. Weese struck out five on only two walks through all seven innings giving up only four hits to the Saint's.
The 'Cats struck first in the third inning. Zach Berryman after reaching base was driven in by Mitch Lesmeister for the first run of the ball game. In the fifth, a wild pitch allowed three 'Cats to move based but only Justin Hampson was able to swipe home. Luckily for the 'Cats, Tyler McCLain hit a well-placed ground ball to the second baseman. The groundball allowed Mitch Lesmeister to reach home and extend the lead for the 'Cats. In the seventh, Justin Hampson scored on a single by Lesmeister to give the 'Cats their final insurance run heading into the seventh.
The 'Cats look to close out the series tomorrow over the Saint's. Game times are currently scheduled for 12:00 PM & 3:00 PM
