SCOUTING WESTERN WASHINGTON
The Vikings are 9-7 in GNAC play after dropping three games of a four-game series at Northwest Nazarene last weekend. Western is 7-3 when playing at home.
Western Washington is hitting .326 as a team with 17 home runs and 134 runs batted in. They have clubbed 51 doubles, but just two triples on the season. Tatum Dow leads the Viks' offense with an average of .477 through 28 games. Dow has collected 42 hits, including five home runs, and driven in a team-high 25 runs. Dow's 19 runs scored is good for second in the Vikings' lineup.
In the circle, Anna Kasner leads WWU with a 9-2 record in 14 starts. She has posted an ERA of 2.03 with a WHIP of 0.93. Kasner has accumulated 79.1 innings pitched and is just one strikeout shy of the century mark at 99. Opposing hitters have struggled against the right-hander, posting an average of just .180.
Kira Doan has appeared in 16 games, 10 of which have been starts, in the circle for the Vikings. She is 7-6 on the season with a 2.70 ERA and 1.56 WHIP. In 62.1 innings, Doan has struck out 53 hitters and is holding the opposition to an average of .257.
THE WILDCATS
Central split its midweek series against Western Oregon, including a comeback effort in the series finale. The 'Cats are 7-5 in GNAC play and are currently second in the conference standings. They are .500 on the road at 4-4.
Theresa Moyle's .409 average leads the Wildcats' offense. She has clubbed four home runs, six doubles, and five triples. Moyle leads CWU in runs batted in with 29. She has an OBP of .460 and is 6-for-6 in stolen base opportunities. Harlee Carpenter sits just behind Moyle at .390. She has hit seven doubles and seven triples, entering the week as the Division II leader in triples. Carpenter has worked a team-high 17 walks, putting her OBP at .495.
As a team, the Wildcats are hitting .346 and have scored 197 runs. Among qualified players, six Wildcats are hitting over .300. Central holds the ninth best average in Division II and are atop the leaderboard in triples per game (0.92). The Crimson and Black are also tied for eighth in scoring, averaging 7.46 runs per game, and are in the top 20 in slugging (.531).
In the circle, Samantha Stanfield leads the Wildcats' pitching efforts. She is 4-4 on the season in 12 appearances, seven have been starts. Over 52 innings, Stanfield has an ERA of 3.46 and a WHIP of 1.46. She has recorded 45 strikeouts and is holding opposing hitters to an average of .254.
Central Washington was once again listed as under consideration for NCAA postseason play.
