LEXINGTON, Ky.--The United State Marine Corps (USMC) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) recently announced their annual team academic awards, and Central Washington was once again among the nation's finest.

A total of 1,275 collegiate and high school teams earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2020-2021 season.
This mark the sixth consecutive year head coach
Mario Andaya's Wildcats have earned an AVCA team academic award. CWU previously earned the honor in 2011, 2013, 2014, 106, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.

In addition to earning a team academic team award, CWU was one of 32 NCAA Division II programs that were recognized with Honor Roll status, placing the Wildcats in the top of their class. The Wildcats posted an impressive 3.83 team GPA, the highest among all CWU athletic teams. This marks the third time in four seasons the Wildcats have finished among the nation's best.

The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.
