QUOTABLE
"We face an old foe in Grant Landy, the former Concordia University – Portland head coach," CWU Head Coach Michael Farrand said. "We know they'll be well coached and organized. They play in the CCAA and that's one of the toughest conferences in the country. We will have to match their work rate, and style of play, and concentrate on what we do well and hopefully get the result we deserve."

SCOUTING HUMBOLDT STATE
The Jacks enter the week with a 1-0-1 record with both of their games coming at home.

Their last outing was a 2-1 victory over the University of Hawaii at Hilo. Humboldt State opened the season with a 0-0 double overtime draw against Dominican University of California.

Against the Penguins, the Jacks were outshot 12-8 and managed just two shots on goal. In their second match against the Vulcans, they managed nine shots and six on goal. Six of their nine shots came in the second half.

Clara Lenihan and Kendal Spencer tallied goals for Humboldt State against Hilo. Poppy Cartledge added an assist. Lenihan appeared in five matches during the 2020-21 pandemic season. She transferred to Humboldt State after playing three games in 2019 for Northern Colorado. Spencer scored one goal during the 2019 season for the Jacks.

In goal, Alexis Aguilar made three stops. In two games, Aguilar has made nine stops with a save percentage of .900. Her goals against average sits at 0.45.

LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats split their opening week against the College of Idaho and Chaminade University. Central picked up a 3-2 over the Yotes, before falling 2-1 to the Swords.

Makinzie Packwood scored the Wildcats' first goal of the season in the 23rd minute against the College of Idaho with an assist to Stacia Conely. After an equalizing goal from the Yotes in the 51st minute, Sydney Lowe scored her first of the season in the 55th minute. The Coyotes found a second equalizer to knot the game at 2-2 in the 68th minute. A corner for the Wildcats in the 74th minute gave way to Maci Parke's first marker of the campaign. Packwood laid the corner in the box, where Parke buried it for the game-winning goal. Megan Fox made eight saves to earn her first win of the year.

Against Chaminade, the Crimson and Black fell behind 1-0 when the Swords scored with under a minute remaining in the opening stanza. Central responded quickly after the halftime break with Packwood notching the equalizer in the 51st minute. Both teams were held scoreless until the 90th minute, when the Swords struck again with only seconds remaining in regulation.

PACKWOOD NETS GNAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Two goals and an assist earned Packwood GNAC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

"It's exciting to be recognized," Farrand said. "It's been awhile since we have had a player of the week. For it to be Mak in the beginning of the year is a testament to the work she put in to come back from a serious injury. She's had points, and a positive impact, in all of our outings this year."
