ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The Central Washington Women's Basketball team earned two selections to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Preseason All-Conference Team, Samantha Bowman and Valerie Huerta. Bowman was selected as the GNAC Preseason All-Conference MVP.
Bowman earns her second straight selection for the GNAC Preseason All-Conference team, and her first preseason MVP award. Her phenomenal 2021 season included leading all NCAA Division 2 athletes in rebounds per game (15.4), double-doubles (26), and a GNAC-leading 1.8 blocks per game.
Bowman's signature performance last season include a 23-point, 29-rebound outing against Concordia Irvine, which ties for the 16th most rebounds ever recorded in a Division II game and tied a GNAC record for most rebounds in a single game. Bowman had an incredible four 20-point, 20-rebound outings in 2021-22.
Huerta earned her GNAC Preseason All-Conference Team selection after a breakout freshman season. She started 24 of 32 games and averaged 8.2 points per game to go with shooting 42% from the field. She dished out 89 assists and grabbed 64 defensive boards.
