Hollis, Maier Finish as Top Performers at UW Invitational

SEATTLE, Wash. - Despite taking a smaller group, the Central Washington University indoor track and field team saw steady improvement across the board at the UW Invitational this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 27 and 28.
 
A season's best from Braydon Maier and an improvement from E'lexis Hollis by breaking her own school record highlighted the performances of the Wildcats.

"It was a really solid weekend overall. I'm just excited to see the progress and we'll be excited after a weekend off for a lot of people to get back at it with the full squad next week as head back to Spokane."
 
ABOUT THE MEET
In the women's 60-meter dash, Hollis ran a time of 7.57 seconds. Her time broke her previous school record by 0.01 seconds and improved her provisional time for the NCAA Indoor Championships. She placed 4th in the event at the meet.
 
Maier finished 3rd in the men's pole vault with a score of 4.63 meters, a season-best for him. His score earned him 3rd at the meet but 1st in the GNAC this season.
 
Lauryn Chandler also improved on her NCAA Indoor Championships provisional score in the women's 60-meter hurdles. She ran a time of 8.77 seconds in the prelims, breaking her personal record. She finished 6th in the event.
 
Aiden Wise finished 4th in the men's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.55 seconds. Austin Albertin recorded a season-best men's 400-meter race. His time of 49.91 seconds earned him 9th at the meet but he currently ranks 4th in the GNAC in the event.
 
The women's 4x400 meter relay team (Ellie DeGroot, Sarah Sewell, Juliette Williams, and Elise Hopper) lowered their GNAC-leading time to 3:56.24. They finished 6th at the meet.
 
UP NEXT
Next week, the Wildcats will head back to The Podium in Spokane, Wash. for the WSU Invitational, hosted by Washington State University from Thursday, Feb. 2, to Saturday, Feb. 4.
