QUOTING HEAD COACH KEVIN ADKISSON:
  • "I'm really excited about performances over the weekend. We got what we came to California to do. Everyone responded well, dug in, and competed hard."
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • At the Bryan Clay Invitational, Hollis ran an 11.78 in the 100-meter dash, which is not only a provisional qualifier, but is also an improvement of the school record she set last year. She ranks second in the conference and 33rd in the nation.
  • Correa followed it up with a 1:51.07 in the 800-meter dash, a provisional qualifying time, a PR, and a 3rd place finish. Correa is currently 4th in the GNAC this season and 28th in the nation.
  • Chandler improved her provisional qualifying time in the 100-meter hurdles at the Beach Invitational, recording a time of 13.99. She set a PR, leads the conference, and is 16th in the nation.
  • Chris Hines put up a season-best leap of 21' 9" in the long jump, good for 11th place at the Beach Invitational. He also earned a PR in the triple jump (46' 0").
  • The Bryan Clay Invitational provided the team the opportunity to get their first multis experience on the season. Drew Klein, Braydon Maier, McCall DeChenne, Ellie DeGroot, Sarah Sewell, and Carley Huber took that opportunity ahead of GNAC Championships next month.
  • Six more Wildcats earned PRs over the weekend: Madison Thompson (400-meter & 800-meter), Isaiah Webster (100-meter), Aiden Wise (400-meter hurdles), Angus Beaton (shot put), Ellie DeGroot (100-meter hurdles), and Carley Huber (100-meter hurdles).
UP NEXT:
  • Next weekend, the Wildcats will return to Ellensburg for the Wildcat Open, the only home meet of the season, at the CWU Recreation Sports Complex next Saturday, Apr. 22.
