ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Central Washington women's soccer team (1-3-1, 0-2-0 GNAC) will begin their two-game road trip on Thursday, October 3
rd as they face Montana State Billings (3-3-0, 0-2-0 GNAC) in a conference matchup
. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. PST at the Yellowjacket Soccer Field. The 'Cats will then travel to Seattle where they will face the Seattle Pacific Falcons (3-1-2, 1-0-1 GNAC) on Saturday, October 5
th at 4:30 p.m. at Interbay Soccer Stadium.
LAST TIME OUT
CWU is coming off back-to-back losses as they both resulted in 1-0 defeats, first against Northwest Nazarene in Nampa, Idaho and then at home against Saint Martin's. They will look to break the goalless streak in this upcoming weekend's matchups. In their matchup with the Nighthawks, they were outshot 26 to four and could not recover from the goal scored against them in the 51
st minute. In the match against SMU, the Wildcats improved offensively with nine total shots and three on goal. They could not find the back of the net, but their attacking style of play looked more in rhythm and fluid. Ultimately, they were outshot 14 to nine and suffered an early goal against, which came in the 27
th minute.
SCOUTING THE YELLOWJACKETS
Montana State Billings is 3-3-0 overall, 7
th in the GNAC with a 0-2-0 record, and is 0-1 at home. Last week out, they faced Seattle Pacific University at home which resulted in a 2-1 defeat. They then traveled to British Colombia to face Simon Fraser University which resulted in a 2-0 loss. They will be returning home to face CWU and will be looking to get back on track in the win column.
Jackie Sharpe is a name to watch as she leads the team in goal contributions with four, two goals and two assists. Her offensive abilities have put opponents on edge as she can create for others with limited space. Liberty Palmer leads the team in scoring, with three goals and will be looking to add to that tally this weekend. Palmer also leads in shots attempted with 21 and has been deadly in front of goal. Goalkeeper Claire Brogdon has made 21 saves through six matches and will be crucial for MSUB's defense going forward.
SCOUTING THE FALCONS
Seattle Pacific University is 3-1-2 overall, 2
nd in the GNAC with a 1-0-1 record, and is 1-2-1 at home. Last week out, they faced Montana State Billings in Montana and came away with a 2-1 victory. They then traveled to Bellingham, Washington for a showdown with Western Washington which resulted in a 1-1 draw.
Kayla Wallace will be a name to watch as she has scored five goals in six appearances so far this season. Taylor Krueger is another player to keep your eyes on as she has five total goal contributions with three goals and two assists. Krueger leads the team in shots attempted with 16. Mercedes Cullen has been a defensive specialist in front of goal as she has made 30 saves in six games started.
