Wildcats Host Wolves and Nighthawks as Conference Play Rolls On

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Central Washington women's soccer team (1-5-3, 0-4-2 GNAC) hosts two GNAC opponents this week. The 'Cats face Western Oregon (3-3-5, 3-1-2 GNAC) on Thursday, October 17th at 7:15 p.m. at Tomlinson Stadium. The action continues Saturday as the Crimson and Black face Northwest Nazarene (1-9-0, 1-5-0 GNAC) at 2:00 p.m. at Tomlinson Stadium.  

LAST TIME OUT 

CWU tied against Simon Fraser in Ellensburg on Saturday 0-0. The 'Cats had three shots on goal and goalkeeper Danika Galbraith made 16 saves to keep the Crimson and Black in the game. Peyton Wilson, Sami Huber and Jordan Bartlow each had a shot on goal. This was an impressive result considering SFU is ranked first in the conference standings.  

SCOUTING WESTERN OREGON 

The Wolves are 3-3-5 overall and 3-1-2 in Great Northwest Atlantic Conference play with a 1-3-2 road record. Last week, they faced Montana State University Billings at home that resulted in a 1-0 shutout win. Olivia Fothergill scored in the 61st minute on an assist from teammate, Savannah Taylor, to give Western Oregon an advantage. Goalkeeper Sophia Pierce made three crucial saves to keep the game close. They then faced Seattle Pacific University and tied 0-0 in a hard-fought match. Goalkeeper Pierce was once again a huge factor as she made six saves, with Olivia Johnsrud leading the team with two shots on goal. Ciara Garcia will be a name to watch as she leads the team in goal contributions with four goals scored and one assist. Teammate Fothergill is right behind with three goals scored this season. Kameron Wimsatt leads the Wolves with two assists.  

SCOUTING NORTHWEST NAZARENE  

The Nighthawks are 1-9-0 overall and 1-5-0 in Great Northwest Atlantic Conference play with a 0-2-0 road record. Last week out, they faced Simon Fraser University that resulted in a 1-0 loss. They then hosted Western Washington University which resulted in a 2-0 loss in a hard-fought match. Allison Wolf and Nicole Lewis each had a shot on goal in these matches and will continue to strive for offensive opportunities. Abbey Blancett will be a name to look out for as she leads the team with two goals scored in four shots attempted. Alejandra Jaramillo is also a player to watch as she leads NNU with 17 shots attempted. Goalkeeper Alex Barrass has made 22 saves through six games started.

Your Wildcats will travel to Burnaby, B.C. to face Simon Fraser University on Thursday, October 24th at 6:00 p.m. at Terry Fox Field. The road trip continues as the 'Cats travel to Bellingham, Wash. to face Western Washington on Saturday, October 26th at 2:00 p.m. at Harrington Field.
