Wildcat Softball Snowed Out on Day One at Western Oregon

MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Central Washington University softball team's Saturday nonconference doubleheader managed to get two full innings in before the snow in and around the Monmouth area forced the cancellation of the remainder of the day for the two teams.

The Wolves managed to take the 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Maddie Doig reached on an error by the second baseman allowing enough time for Bella Valdes to score.

Makenna King earned the lone Wildcat hit of the two innings singling to the right field.

Ashlee Laver started the game in the circle for CWU allowing three hits, one run, and one walk while striking out one against 11 batters.

The game will be resumed in game one of tomorrow's nonconference doubleheader with the Wolves leading 1-0 in the top of the third with no outs. Kate Hopkins drew a walk to have her on first base with Karsyn Decker up to bat when they resume at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow.

Game two will start approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
