Wildcat Football Announces 2024 Schedule Featuring Five Home Games

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – A full 11-game slate and five home games at Tomlinson Stadium highlight the 2024 Central Washington University football schedule for this coming fall as announced today by the Wildcats.

The Wildcats will kick off the season on Saturday, Sept. 7 with a road matchup at the University of San Diego where CWU will look to knock off their first NCAA Division I opponent since 2009 when they took down Idaho State.
 
CWU will stay on the road for the following two weeks with a nonconference battle at Colorado Mesa on Saturday, Sept. 14 and the start of Lone Star Conference play at West Texas A&M on Saturday, Sept. 21.
 
The first home game of the season is set to happen on Saturday, Sept. 28 when the Wildcats welcome the Western New Mexico Mustangs for a 6:00 p.m. first kick on Steve Hertling Field at Tomlinson Stadium.
 
On Saturday, Oct. 5 the 'Cats will travel down to Portales, New Mexico to clash with the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds. CWU will then head back to The 'Burg to welcome the defending LSC champions the Texas Permian Basin Falcons on Saturday, Oct. 12 once again with a 6:00 p.m. kickoff. The crimson and black will then make their second-consecutive trip to Kingsville, Texas to take on Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday, Oct. 19.
 
The Midwestern State Mustangs will come to Ellensburg for a homecoming showdown on Saturday, Oct. 26 with kickoff set for 6:00 p.m. Following their homecoming battle, the 'Cats will head down to Angelo State on Saturday, Nov. 2.
 
CWU will wrap up the season with back-to-back home games, first against LSC newcomer Sul Ross State on Saturday, Nov. 9 with a 6:00 p.m. kickoff. The battle of the Pacific Northwest will wrap up the regular season as Western Oregon comes to Ellensburg on Saturday, Nov. 16 with a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
 
The Wildcats will look to make it back-to-back trips to the NCAA Division II Playoffs after starting the season 0-2 before rattling off seven-straight victories to open LSC play in 2023 before falling in what would be the LSC Championship game to UTPB. The Wildcats weren't deterred after hearing their name called on selection Sunday taking down second-seeded Western Colorado 16-13 in overtime on the road. They didn't stop there coming back from a 17-point deficit to knock off Bemidji State 21-17 in Bemidji, Minnesota. In the national quarterfinals, the Wildcats took the top-ranked and then undefeated Colorado School of Mines Orediggers to a 14-14 tie at halftime before Mines ultimately ran away in the second half to the 38-14 victory.
