ELLENSBURG, Wash. - The Central Washington University Wildcats volleyball team (2-4) opens GNAC play this weekend when they travel to Monmouth, Ore. to play the Western Oregon University Wolves (7-1) on Thursday, Sept. 19, and then travel to Lacey, Wash. on Saturday, Sept. 21 to face the Saint Martin's University Saints (2-6).  
What happened last: 
The Crimson and Black are coming off a 1-2 record at the CWU Invitational in Ellensburg, Wash. where they upset the #10 Cal Poly Pomona Broncos in a five-set thriller but fell short against the #16 Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes and #11 Cal State LA Golden Eagles. All three matches showed Central make comebacks, whether they were down in sets or points, to force a deciding fifth set. The fifth set again Cal Poly Pomona saw the Wildcats score seven-straight points to comeback and upset the Broncos 16-14. CWU's six-point comeback in the fifth set again CSUSB earned them a one-point lead before the Coyotes scored three-straight to win 15-13, and the 'Cats won sets three and four against Cal State LA to force set five, which the Golden Eagles won 15-12. 
Strong play from the Wildcats included Hannah Stires, whose 74 digs over the weekend were key in CWU's comebacks. Offensive efforts from Emma Daoud-Hebert (27 kills & 18 blocks), Ellie Marble (36 kills & 31 digs), Scottie Ellsworth (27 kills), and Kayleigh-Shay Chang (59 assists) were instrumental for the 'Cats. 
About The Wildcat's Opponents 
Western Oregon University Wolves 
The Wolves are coming off a non-conference schedule that saw them earn a 7-1 record to start the season. During the Cougar Classic last weekend, they defeated Azusa Pacific University, Cal State University Monterey Bay, and Westmont College. WOU would see its first season loss during the Cougar Classic as the home team Cal State San Marcos defeated the Wolves in five sets.  
The Wolves leaders include Madison Hornback (95 kills), Samantha Darby (188 assists), Chloe Asciutto (27 service aces & 25 blocks), Sidney Friesen (82 digs), and Finley Buman (25 blocks). 
Saint Martin's University Saints 
The Saints went 1-3 this past weekend in the Northwest Nazarene Tournament in Nampa, Idaho, losing to Colorado School of Mines, Westminster (UT), and Point Loma Nazarene. Saint Martin's defeated Biola University by a score of 3-2 on Sept. 14 during the tournament. 
The Saints team leaders include Emily Garten (81 kills, 73 digs, & 16 service aces), Tiffany Lam (109 assists), Emmy Hansen (62 digs), and Jennifer Soha (31 blocks).
