HISTORY
PREVIOUSLY FOR THE 'CATS
Central is coming off a busy weekend of travel in the state of Alaska, as the Wildcats took on the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves on Thursday, and the Alaska Nanooks on Saturday. The Crimson and Black put on an impressive performance against the Seawolves in Anchorage–winning 3-1 to earn CWU's sixth-straight win. However, that streak would end on Saturday as the 21st-ranked Nanooks knocked the 'Cats off 3-1, with three straight set wins after Central took set one.
A big performance for the Crimson and Black came from this week's GNAC Defensive Player of the Week
Kailey Willsey, who recorded 17 total blocks over the weekend with 12 of those coming from Saturday's match up against UAF. Also leading the Wildcats was
Ellie Marble, who recorded 25 kills, and
Addie Allen with 44 assists and three service aces.
Brooklyn Parker continued to lead the defensive efforts with her 38 total digs, followed by
Corinne Westby with 29.
ABOUT THE NIGHTHAWKS
Northwest Nazarene has seen more positive outcomes since last playing the Wildcats on Sep. 27. Since that matchup, the Nighthawks have gone 3-3–defeating Montana State Billings, Saint Martin's and Western Oregon. However, NNU's last two matchups didn't pan out the way the Nighthawks would've preferred–falling 0-3 to 21st-ranked UAF on Thursday and then losing 1-3 to UAA on Saturday.
The Nighthawks are led offensively by Abby Black with 166 kills, and Morgan Wilding with 517 assists. Hailey Cheney and Kayci Spray share the top spot in serving with 20 ace apiece. Spray also leads the defense with 224 digs, while Cheney leads at the net with 62 blocks.
The Wildcats face the Nighthawks on Saturday, Oct. 25. First serve from the Johnson Sports Center is set for noon PDT.
