QUOTING CWU HEAD SOFTBALL COACH JOE DIPIETRO

"This weekend we get to honor our six seniors that have meant so much to our program. They have been a joy to be around, and we would like to send them out on a positive note against a very good team in Western Washington"

LAST OUTINGS

The Wildcats were swept at home by the RV St. Martin's Saints last Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, the Wildcats hosted their annual Gold Star Games where SMU took day one in a pair of high-scoring affairs by scores of 12-11 and 11-9. On day two, the Saints charged through to the sweep by scores of 2-1 and 7-5.

SCOUTING THE #11 VIKINGS

The reigning national runners up are looking to make another deep run in the NCAA playoffs once again this season compiling a 29-10 overall record including going 13-3 in GNAC play. The Vikings struggled out of the gates going 1-4 at the CUI Kickoff Classic but bounced back sweeping doubleheaders against all three Hawaii teams over in Honolulu enroute to a 10-game winning streak including three wins over Western Oregon and one over Simon Fraser in nonconference action. They split against SFU in a nonconference doubleheader before opening GNAC play with a split at St. Martin's followed by sweeping WOU at home. WWU went 4-2 on their spring break in California before diving back in for a road sweep at Northwest Nazarene before going 3-1 at home against Montana State Billings last weekend.

Six Vikings are hitting .300 or better that's led by reining GNAC Freshman of the Year Maleah Andrews who owns a .508 average. Andrews also leads WWU in extra base hits with 18, 15 doubles and three triples. Emma Andrewjeski-Ramirez and Olivia Matlock both are the owners of five homeruns this season to pace WWU while Andrewski-Ramirez also leads in the RBI category batting in 34 runners. Andrews has drawn 28 walks to lead the Vikings and is a perfect eight for eight on stolen base attempts, just behind Laila Carpenter who has nine stolen bases this season.

Western Washington has the triple-headed dragon of a pitching corps that's made up of Kaiana Kong, Joie Baker, and Alli Kimball who all own a 2.15 ERA or lower. Kong paces the way with a 1.47 ERA, a 6-0 record, one complete game, four shutouts, and four saves in 71.2 innings pitched. She's allowed 60 hits, 20 runs with only 15 being earned, and five walks while striking out 62 of 277 batters. Baker is the owner of a 2.12 ERA, a 10-7 record, three complete games, and four shutouts in 86 pitched innings. She's allowed 66 hits, 35 runs with 26 being earned, and 42 walks while striking out 78 of 314 batters. Kimball has a 2.15 ERA to pair with her 12-3 record, three complete games, and four shutouts in 84.2 pitched innings. She's allowed 79 hits, 33 runs with 26 as earned, and 15 walks while striking out 49 of 320 batters.
