GREENSBORO, N.C. – The accolades continue to roll in for Central Washington University's
Brandham Ponce as the senior earned a selection to the 2025 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division II All-America Third Team.
Quoting CWU Baseball Head Coach Desi Storey
"Brandham put together a phenomenal year. Obviously, the 19 home runs which is a conference record and the RBIs, on base percentage, and the statistics alone really don't do justice to the things that he helped us accomplish on the field this year. Going 3-3 on the mound, having to be a full-time starter on the mound for us, I think it was like it was a great year and a well-deserved honor. His hard work shows what you can accomplish."
Ponce earns the honor after a stellar season for the Crimson and Black that saw him break the GNAC single season record for home runs with 19 total dingers. Ponce beat the record in Central's final game of the season, hitting a shot to left-center field in the Wildcats' semifinal game against Montana State Billings. Ponce adds the selection to a large list of accolades from this season including being named the GNAC Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference unanimously, as well as All West-Region First Team.
In 196 total at-bats this season, Ponce accumulated 71 hits, 65 RBIs, 47 runs, and 19 homers for a .362 batting average while slugging .730. Ponce also split the season pitching at the three-spot in the Wildcats' starting rotation while playing at third base for most of his other games, recording a .937 fielding percentage.
