ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Central Washington University Head Football Coach Scott Power is excited to introduce his first addition to his staff as Heath Parling joins the Wildcat family as the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterback Coach.
"I am excited to welcome Heath to our coaching staff as our Offensive Coordinator and Quarterback Coach," Power said. "We were able to win a National Championship together back in 2015 and I have followed his success at different levels of college football ever since. I believe his experience, work ethic, and personality make him a perfect fit for this position."
Parling most recently served as the Offensive Coordinator at Upper Iowa University for three seasons. During his tenure with the Peacocks, he helped play a key role in the team's turnaround from a 3-8 season in 2023 to one of the team's most successful season in recent history in 2025, helping the Peacocks to a 9-3 record with a 6-2 GLVC record and an Albanese Candy Bowl victory over Hillsdale.
Parling's coaching career extends across multiple collegiate programs. Prior to his time at Upper Iowa, he worked with quarterbacks and offensive skill positions at Colorado State (2020-21) and Miami University (2018-19), gaining Division I experience and refining his offensive acumen. Before that, he spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Marian University, where he coached quarterbacks and wide receivers, helping the Knights to the 2015 NAIA Championship alongside Coach Power.
"My family and I are honored to be joining the CWU family and Ellensburg community," Parling said. "I want to especially thank Coach Power and the entire CWU administration for this special opportunity – I look forward to getting to work!"
As a player, Parling was a standout quarterback at Grand Valley State University, where he started for three seasons, throwing for over 7,000 yards to pair with 89 touchdowns. He was recognized as one of the nation's top Division II quarterbacks. He also served as a three-year captain and was a finalist for Division II Quarterback of the Year.
Parling holds a bachelor's degree in history from Grand Valley State, a master's in sport management from Colorado State, and a sport management certificate from Miami University.
