ELLENSBURG, Wash. — The Central Washington University baseball team's scheduled doubleheader Saturday, March 14 at Seattle University in Lakewood, Wash., was canceled after heavy winter weather forced the closure of major Cascade Mountain passes Friday night.
Both Snoqualmie Pass and Stevens Pass were closed overnight due to severe winter conditions on Friday, March 13, preventing safe travel for the Wildcats as they attempted to cross the Cascade Mountains.
Because of the travel disruptions and field conditions in Lakewood, the two programs mutually agreed to cancel the doubleheader. Information regarding a potential makeup date has not yet been announced.
The Wildcats return to conference play next week, as they travel to Lacey, Wash., for a four-game series against Saint Martin's starting on Friday, March 20. First pitch from Saints Field is set for noon.
