Magruder & Flores Grab GNAC Athlete of the Week Honors

PORTLAND, Ore. – Two Central Washington University student-athletes were honored by the Great Northwest Athletic Conference for their performances over the weekend. Colton Magruder earned the GNAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week after his outstanding performance at the WSU Cougar Classic while Mia Flores capped of her senior weekend with a tremendous performance against Montana State Billings to earn the GNAC Softball Player of the Week.
 
"Colton had a great race," CWU Head Track & Field Coach Jonathan Hill said. "He's executing better and better and is learning how to run a very technical event in the 200. He's setting up segments he's never had before, and we're excited to see what's next for him."
 
Magruder had a first-place finish in the 100m, finishing with a time of 10.62. He added a new personal best and the 23rd-best time in NCAA Division II this season in the 200m with a time of 21.04 which ranks fourth in GNAC history and second in CWU history. The freshman continues his tear with his third GNAC Track Athlete of the Week honor this season. 
 
"Mia was absolutely stellar this weekend," CWU Head Softball Coach Ronnie Ladines said. "She dominated and stepped up in every clutch moment. To top it all off on senior weekend makes it that much more unforgettable."
 
Flores made her senior weekend unforgettable while helping the 'Cats to a crucial weekend sweep over Montana State Billings. She logged eight hits in 13 at-bats to knock in eight runs. She added two doubles and her first home run of the season and drew two walks. She not only produced offensively but was a brick wall defensively. She made 7 putouts and 12 assists for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage as the starting third baseman. This is Flores
 
Magruder and the 'Cats are hosting the GNAC Combined Events Championship today and tomorrow, then will turn their attention to hosting the GNAC Outdoor Championships on Monday and Tuesday May 4th and 5th.
 
Flores and the Wildcat Softball Team will head to Nampa, Idaho to face Northwest Nazarene in another critical weekend to wrap up the regular season. The 'Cats and Nighthawks clash on Friday and Saturday with first pitch set for 1:00 p.m. Friday and 11:00 a.m. Saturday.
