Hutchins, Tomaso Selected to GNAC Women's Soccer All-Conference Second Team

Wildcats Land Five on All-Conference Squads

SPOKANE (Nov. 9) -- Central Washington University senior midfielder Kaycie Hutchins (Port Orchard/Bellarmine Prep) and junior forward Serena Tomaso (Enumclaw) have both been selected to the all-Great Northwest Athletic Conference second team for their play during the 2010 women's soccer season.

Hutchins and Tomaso were two of five Wildcat players to play their way onto the all-conference list. Senior midfielder Ellie Eckroth (Auburn/Auburn Mountainview HS), junior forward Amy Pate (Federal Way/Thomas Jefferson HS), and sophomore defender Allie Washburn (Bremerton/Central Kitsap HS) were all named to the honorable mention all-conference team.

Hutchins, Central's all-time leader in assists, recorded three goals and five assists in 2010, and finished her career by earning second-team all-conference honors for three consecutive seasons.

Tomaso's team-leading eight goals rank sixth in the GNAC, and her 18 points were seventh-best in the eight-team conference. Like Hutchins, Tomaso was a repeat second-team selection on the all-conference squad.

Eckroth's selection to the honorable mention all-conference team was her second in as many seasons, while Pate and Washburn both garnered the first all-conference selections of their careers.

Overall on the all-conference teams, there were 48 all-conference players between the first team (11), second team (14), and honorable mention (23). Senior Jill Webb of Saint Martin's was the GNAC Player of the Year, Montana State Billings coach Don Trentham was the Coach of the Year, and three players from Seattle Pacific -- Maddie Dickinson, Kendall Thoreson, and Kellie Zakrzewski -- received specialty awards as the Defensive Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, and Freshman of the Year, respectively.

Central Washington finished the 2010 season with a 4-12-2 record and a 4-9-1 conference mark.
