ELLENSBURG (Mar. 26) -- The softball doubleheader between rivals Central Washington University and Western Washington University, scheduled for a noon start on Saturday at Gary & Bobbi Frederick Field, has been postponed due to rain.
The two teams will attempt to make up one of Saturday's postponed game on Sunday as part of a tripleheader on the CWU campus, with the first game currently slated for an 11 a.m. start. The other game washed out on Saturday will likely be made up on Apr. 22 when the Wildcats visit Bellingham for an already-scheduled doubleheader against the Vikings.
The Wildcats, 9-6 overall and 7-3 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play under first-year head coach
Mallory Holtman, have now had all five of their scheduled home doubleheaders this season altered due to poor weather and unplayable field conditions -- with either the postponement or relocation of games. Central's four-game series against Simon Fraser in late February was postponed to dates later in the season (doubleheaders on Apr. 25 and on another date to be determined), while the Wildcats' four-game set versus Montana State Billings on Mar. 5-6 was moved from Ellensburg to Carlon Park in Selah.
