Box Score 4 Ellensburg, WASH (April 28) – Two Central Washington University athletes won Player of the Week for their respective sports this past weekend as
Eric Tinnell (Ephrata, WA, Ephrata) earned player of the week and
Maria Gau (Woodinville, WA, Woodinville) earned pitcher of the week.
Tinnell helped the Wildcats win three games over Montana State Billings by going 8-for-18 with two doubles, a home run, six runs scored and four RBI.
The second basemen converted all 11 chances in the field without committing and error.
The senior is now batting .353 on the season, which is good enough for fifth in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
The Wildcats will finish their season next weekend at Saint Martins University with a four game series beginning May 2
nd, in Lacey. Game one will begin at 1 p.m.
Gau pitched the Wildcats to two wins last weekend and improved her record to 16-6 on the season.
She struck out 10 in her 11 innings of work and increased her GNAC-leading strikeout total to 124 on the season.
Gau added to her school record of most complete games, which now stands at 62.
The Wildcats completed their regular season last weekend against Northwest Nazarene and will begin post-season play May 1
st against Western Washington University at 4:30 p.m. in Richland, Wash.
