ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Feb. 11) – The Central Washington baseball team (4-0) will be looking to extend their win streak this coming weekend as they head down to Rohnert Park, Cali. to play a four-game series with Sonoma State (0-1). These games will hold heavy weight in the Wildcats chances to gain a regional berth through strong non-conference wins.

In the Wildcats opening weekend series, they out-scored Saint Martin's 30-9 in four games. Senior Kasey Bielec led the offense with six hits, four of which being extra base hits including a home run. There were five other Wildcat hitters that had four or more hits on the weekend.

Even though the offense put a big numbers in their opening weekend, it was the right arm of Brandon Williams that was the talk of the GNAC. Williams started his senior campaign off in a remarkable way recording a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts in seven innings pitched, earning him GNAC-Pitcher of the Week honors.

The CWU starting pitchers appeared sharp as well throwing 21 2/3 innings and giving up only nine hits to the Saint Martin's hitters. Also, the Wildcats closer, Cory Welch tallied the first two saves of the season.

Sonoma State University Seawolves
Sonoma State (0-1) coached by John Goelz -- who is back for his 30th season has head coach and is among top-ten active Division II coaches in the nation for wins and winning percentage -- started their season off with a 2-8 loss to Fresno Pacific. They were only able to play one game during the weekend, after three games versus the Academy of Art were cancelled due to weather.

Last season, SSU won the California Collegiate Athletic Association regular season title in 2014 after going 24-8 in conference play. They ended their season with four consecutive losses, two in the CCAA tournament and then two in the NCAA West Regional. They ended their season with a 27-18 record.

The most notable returner for the Seawolves is senior catcher, Eric Ehlow. Last season he batted .313 and led the team in RBI's, slugging percentage, triples and home-runs. Ehlow was also named to the All-CCAA second-team and Division II All-West Region honorable mention.
