Wildcats Welcome Wolves in GNAC Series

ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Mar. 30) –The Central Washington University baseball team returns to Ellensburg after being on the road against Northwest Nazarene.  The Wildcats have four games against Western Oregon University in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference series.
 
Central is coming off a tough week against the Crusaders.  The Wildcats finished 1-3, dropping a pair of close games in the series. 
 
In the series opener Central recorded a 9-3 win.  Benjamin Dunbar launched first homerun of the season and notched three runs batted in.
 
The Wildcats will look for Reid Martinez and Ryan Atkinson to stay on top of their game.  Martinez enters the weekend riding a nine-game hitting streak, including four multi-hit games.  Atkinson has an eight-game hitting streak with six multi-hit games. 
 
Martinez is boasting a .424 batting average with five doubles, two homeruns, and 17 runs batted in.  His 17 RBI are tied for the team high.
 
Atkinson is close behind, hitting .386 with seven doubles, three triples, two homeruns, and 13 duns driven in.
 
On the mound, Jake Levin leads the Wildcats with six starts.  He has compiled a 3-2 record with an earned run average of 4.50.  He has tossed one complete game over 30 innings of work, while striking out a team high 24 hitters.
 
CJ Gettman leads the Wildcats' bullpen.  In nine appearances the right hander has hurled nine innings and recorded four saves.  Opposing hitters have struggled off Gettman, to a tune of just a .156 average against. 
 
The Wolves of Western Oregon have battled to a 10-13 record this season, including a 5-8 mark in GNAC play. 
 
Trevor Podratz leads Western Oregon offensively with a .296 average among qualifiers.  Podratz has hit two balls out and driven in 12 runs.    
 
Cody Sullivan is the leader in the clubhouse with three round trippers, while Nathan Etheridge has driven in 14 runs.
 
Brady Miller has been the driving force for the Wolves on the mound.  In six starts, Miller has posted a 5-0 record accompanied by a 0.70 ERA.  He has struck out 46 hitters and opposing hitters are finding success at a clip of just .131.  Over the course of 38.2 innings, Miller has only allowed four runs.
 
Garrett Alvarez, Gary Steindor, and Darrien Moran round out the usual starters for Western Oregon.  Each of the three have earned run averages below 3.50.  Combined, they a record of 4-4. 
 
First pitch is scheduled for noon on both Saturday and Sunday.
