ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Mar. 2) – The Central Washington University baseball team has moved its Great Northwest Athletic Conference opening series against Saint Martin's University to Southridge High School in Kennewick, Washington.
Doubleheaders are scheduled for Saturday (Mar. 4) and Sunday (Mar. 5), beginning at 3 p.m. on both days.
The Wildcats are coming off of a series against the Academy of Art University, in which they won three of four games.
Mackenzie Gaul earned GNAC Pitcher of the Week honors after hurling a 4-0 shutout in game two of the series, striking out nine hitters.
Currently, Central Washington is 6-4 on the season.
Dustin Braun leads the Wildcats' offense with a .414 average. He has one homerun and has driven in seven runs.
Conor Plaisance is also hitting above .400. The center fielder is hitting at a clip of .405 with two round trippers and three runs batted in.
On the mound,
Jake Levin has posted a 2-0 record and an earned run average of 0.93. The right-hander has struck out eight hitters, while holding opponents to a .222 batting average against.
Saint Martin's is 3-5 on the season and has lost three of its last five games, after playing a five-game set against the College of Idaho.
Leading the Saints' offense is Steve Sordahl. Sordahl boasts a .474 average. Adam Eskil is currently hitting at a clip of .357 with two homeruns and eight runs driven in. The Saints are hitting .267 as a team.
On the bump, Ryan Dorney is 0-1 in two starts, but has an ERA of 1.80. In 10 innings Dorney has allowed just seven hits and struck out six hitters. He has held opposing hitters to a batting average of just .206 on the season. The Saints' pitching staff has an earned run average of 4.24 and opposing hitters have a .268 batting average against them.
First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday in Kennewick, Washington.
