ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Mar. 30) -- The Central Washington University baseball team is gearing up for a four-game series with Montana State University Billings. The first pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. on Friday, March 31 at the CWU Baseball Field.
 
The Wildcats (14-11, 8-7 GNAC) are riding a three-game winning streak after sweeping Concordia University last week. MSUB comes into the week with a 10-15 record, and an 8-7 mark in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
 
The Yellowjackets split their series with Northwest Nazarene last week, and have won six of their last nine conference games.
 
Byron Baker leads the Yellowjackets pitching staff with an earned run average of 2.67, sixth in the GNAC.  Opposing hitters are hitting just .194 off of Baker.
 
Senior Kyle Stahl went 4-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Wildcats at the plate last weekend and Jake Levin demonstrated his power by launching two homeruns.
 
Levin was also impressive on the mound. He earned his fourth win of the season in CWU's opening contest against the Cavaliers, allowing just three hits with three strikeouts in five scoreless innings.
 
"We've had some good outings on the mound," CWU Head Coach Desi Storey said.  "We've gotten more consistent on the mound, Lev and Mack have been good for us.  We've gotten solid outings from our bullpen.  Our fielding has been good; we just need to cut down on our throwing errors.  We have one of the highest fielding marks in the conference.  At the plate, it's about consistency.  We scored in multiple innings last weekend and we need that type of production every time out."
 
Dylan Freyre leads the Wildcats' offense at a clip of .456, a Great Northwest Athletic Conference high.  The senior infielder has four round trippers and 14 runs batted in.  Behind Freyre,  Conor Plaisance sits with a batting average of .330, with four homeruns and 14 driven in.
 
Levin leads the Wildcats' starting rotation.  In seven starts the right-hander has hurled 43 innings for a 4-1 record.  His 1.67 earned run average is tops amongst CWU pitchers, as well as the GNAC.  Mackenzie Gaul sits fourth in the GNAC in earned run average at 2.14.  Gaul leads the conference in strikeouts with 41.  He also leads in wins with five.
