Wildcats Square Off Against Urban Knights

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Central Washington Baseball is back in action this upcoming weekend as they hit the road for a four-game series at Academy of Art University.

SCOUTING ACADEMY OF ART | ROSTER | SCHEDULE | 2019 STATS
The Urban Knight will get the 2020 campaign started this weekend when they host CWU. AAU is coming off a 17-29 record during the 2019 season and went 6-25 in the PacWest Conference.
 
The Urban Knight have seven seniors on the 2020 squad led by outfielder/shortstop Thomas Delgadillo, who was named to the 2020 Preseason All-PacWest Team. In 2019, he batted .422 with 31 runs and 13 RBIs. His played earned in multiple honors including All-PacWest First Team, the 2019 D2CCA All-Region Second Team, the 2019 ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Second Team, and the 2019 NCBWA All-Region Second Team.
 
Making up the rest of the senior class is middle infielder Justin Summers, outfielder Alex Golembiewski, and pitchers Fabian Barcena, Galen Manhard, Matthew Sanchez, ad Jayson Summers. Summers started all 46 games last year and batted .325. He led the Urban Knights in runs scored with 38 and walks with 28.
 
On the mound, Manhard was second in the PacWest in saves with seven while recording a 2-0 record in 19 appearances. Also back is Noah Daubin, who hit .274 with 10 doubles and 21 RBIs during the 2019 season. He will look to be a go-to option in the lineup this season.
 
Bench Boss Dan McDermott is in his sixth season of leading the Urban Knights. In five seasons of leading AAU, he has an overall record of 84-156.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats dropped their season opening series against Stanislaus State last week to start the year 0-3.
 
Both Cameron McGrath and Justin Hampson picked up four hits over the three-game span. McGrath was 4-6 with a run scored and had three RBI and batted .667 for the weekend.
 
Hampson went 4-10 for the series and also scored one run to go along with two RBI. He is currently batting .400 going into this weekend's series.
 
Brayde Hirai led the way for the pitching staff with six strikeouts. Rhyse Frey, JJ lemming and Dillon Larsen all finished with three strikeouts as well.
 
CWU vs. AAU HISTORY
The Wildcats and Urban Knights have only met 17 times in the two team's history. CWU is 11-6 against the Urban Knights.
 
Last season, the Wildcats dropped a pair of games against AAU. Both games came down to a one-run score as the Urban Knights won 6-5 and 2-1, respectively.
