Baseball Announces 2022 Schedule

ELLENSBURG, Wash.— The Central Washington baseball program has announced its schedule for the spring of 2022. This spring marks the return of a full schedule and non-conference matchups for the Wildcats since the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I think we had a good fall. The guys really worked hard and showed improvement on offense and with our pitching." Said CWU Head Coach Desi Storey.

The 'Cats will open their 2022 slate with a 13-game road trip starting in Caldwell, Idaho, against the Yotes from the College of Idaho.

Following the opening weekend, the 'Cats will hop on a plane and head down to California to take on the Coyotes from Cal State San Bernardino.

The 'Cats will close out the season opening road trip against the Warriors from NAIA powerhouse Lewis-Clark State College. The Warriors are fresh off of a 44-6 season that ended at the hands of No. 2 Central Methodist in the NAIA World Series semifinal round.

"We're excited for our matchups with the two NAIA schools. Both programs have a strong history of competitive baseball."

The long-awaited home opener will feature the Wolves from Western Oregon in a non-conference double-header on Saturday, February 26th.

The 'Cats GNAC conference schedule will open at home against the Nighthawks from Northwest Nazarene.

After the pair of home matchups, the 'Cats will make a short road trip down to Western Oregon to take on the Wolves in their first conference matchup.

Lewis-Clark State will make the trip to the 'Burg the following weekend for another non-conference double-header and challenge for the 'Cats.

The Saint's from Saint Martin's and the Yellowjackets from Montana State Billings will each make the trip out to the 'Burg for conference matchups.

The 'Cats will make a short trip over to Northwest Nazarene for their final regular season matchup with the Nighthawks before returning to host the Wolves from Western Oregon in the final home stand.

The 'Cats will close out their 2022 regular season on the road first at Saint Martin's against the Saints, and finally in Billings against the Yellowjackets.

The GNAC conference tournament is scheduled for May 12th and 13th. The tournament will feature the top three teams in the conference by regular-season standings and win percentage. The tournament will feature a round-robin format with double elimination.

"The GNAC is always competitive and we're keeping our fingers crossed for a full fifty-game season."
