SCOUTING HUMBOLDT STATE
The Jacks are 7-2 on the season, coming off a 2-1 three-game series against Saint Martin's University. Humboldt took the first two games of the series, 4-1 and 12-4, before falling 11-3 in the finale. All nine games the Jacks have played have come on the road.
Izzy Starr leads the offensive output for Humboldt State, hitting .516 through nine games. Star has hit four home runs and driven in 12 runs. She only has two other extra base hits, one triple and one double, and has not drawn a walk. Starr has also not gone down on strikes yet in 2021.
Danica Grier leads HSU in runs batted in (14), while posting an average of .452. She has hit three home runs and three doubles. She has worked two walks and struck out just twice. The Jacks have a team average of .329 and have scored 60 runs, they have only registered 13 strikeouts at the plate.
In the circle, Karen Di Dio leads the Jacks with a 4-0 record in four starts. She's tossed 24 innings and holds a WHIP of 1.21, while holding hitters to an average of .247. Di Dio has tallied three complete games, while posting an ERA of 2.33.
Emily McAdams holds a record of 3-1 in five appearances, three of which have been starts. She has posted an ERA of 3.55 with a WHIP of 1.71. Opposing hitters have an average of .283 against McAdams. The Jacks have a team ERA of 3.84, with a WHIP of 1.61, while keeping opposing hitters to a .290 average. In total, their staff has struck out 25 hitters and walked 21.
THE WILDCATS
Central Washington split a four-game series with Saint Martin's last week. They closed the series with an 8-0 victory, in five innings, behind a one-hitter from
Samantha Stanfield.
Harlee Carpenter extended her hitting streak to eight games, recording three triples against the Saints. She drove in four runs in the series and is currently hitting .415 on the season. Carpenter leads the Wildcats in on-base percentage (.515), runs scored (22), doubles (4), and triples (6). Her six triples leads not only the GNAC, but NCAA Division II. She has also drawn 11 walks and been hit by one pitch. On the base path, Carpenter is 5-for-5 in stolen bases.
Teresa Moyle leads the Wildcats in average, sitting at a clip of .435. She also leads Central in slugging percentage (.790), home runs (3) and runs batted in (24). Moyle has yet to be thrown out on the base path, holding five stolen bases in five attempts.
Sydney Brown and
Maddy Zerr have driven in 15 and 13 runs, respectively. Both have hit one home run, Brown's coming against Montana State Billings and Zerr's coming against Saint Martin's. Collectively, the Crimson and Black are hitting .332 on the year. They have scored 128 runs and have a team OBP of .420.
Stanfield leads the Wildcats' pitching staff with an ERA of 3.50 and a WHIP of 1.44. She has thrown three complete games, two shutouts, and holds a record of 2-3. She leads the Wildcats in strikeouts (31), innings (36), and batting average against (.236).
Rhaney Harris has appeared in seven games, making three starts, for Central this year. Over 26.2 innings, Harris has posted a record of 4-1. She has an ERA of 3.71 and a WHIP of 1.50. Opposing hitters have an average of .266 against the right-hander. As a staff, the Crimson and Black have an ERA of 6.45 and a WHIP of 1.87. Opposing hitters have an average of .306.
Through 18 games Central Washington has roped 18 triples, leading Division II. The Wildcats have Division II's 20
th best offense, scoring 7.11 runs per game.
