Baseball Heads to Lacey for Four Game Rematch with the Saints

ELLENSBURG, WA.—The Central Washington University baseball team travels to Saint Martin's University for a four-game rematch series against the Saints.

SCOUTING THE SAINT'S
Previously this season, the 'Cats and Saint's split the opening series 2-2, Each winning one on the road and at home. The 'Cats were only able to string together fourteen hits in the two loses, being outscored 19-15.

The Saint's are coming off of a ten straight losing streak, dropping both series to Western Oregon and Northwest Nazarene, and two games to the Montana State University Yellowjackets after stealing one from them.

The Saint's offense currently sits fifth in the GNAC, with a team batting average of .198. The Saint's are led by Redshirt Sophomore Aaron Renaud who sits tenth in the GNAC batting .351, slugging .667, and holds an OPS of 1.106. The Saint's also have the ability to drive the long ball, with four other players posting home runs including Reid Little (.243 AVG, .905 OPS), Cody Chavis (.224 AVG, .580 OPS), Griffin Williams (.184 AVG, .560 OPS), and Ryne Oshiro (.161 AVG, .485 OPS).

The Saint's pitching staff is currently fourth in the GNAC, holding a team ERA of 8.26 and an opponent batting average of .345. The Saint's staff averages the lowest number of strikeouts per nine innings at 7.78. The Saint's pitching staff is led by senior Tanner Inouye. Inouye posts an ERA of 3.70 while holding opposing batters to a .313 AVG. Inouye has struck out 34 in his 24.1 innings pitched. In his last outing against the 'Cats, Inouye worked through five innings, giving up four earned runs on four hits with a trio of walks and eight strikeouts. Inouye also hit two batters while giving up two doubles and a triple to the 'Cats.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE 'CATS
The Wildcats are coming off of a series win against the Montana State University Billings Yellowjackets. The 'Cats had a powerful day one outing, including a 21-15 slugfest win where the 'Cats hit four home runs, two of which were grand slams.

Senior Dillon Larsen will most likely take the hill for the 'Cats in game one. Larsen earned the win last weekend, extending his record to 2-1 on the year. Larsen currently posts a 6.53 ERA on the year. Through 20.2 innings he has struck out 34 batters, holding opponents to a measly .221 AVG. Larsen has allowed only 17 hits this year, six of which have been for extra bases. The 'Cats pitching staff currently sits in the middle of the GNAC in third, posting a team ERA of 6.77 whilst holding opponents to a .289 AVG. The 'Cats also average the highest number of strikeouts per nine innings in the GNAC at 10.04.

The 'Cats offense is led by freshman Zach Berryman who currently sits as the top hitter in the GNAC. Berryman holds a .444 AVG and an OPS of 1.096. Berryman is followed by senior Justin Hampson and sophomore Tyler McClain. Hampson currently sits fourth in the GNAC with a .418 AVG and an OPS of 1.136. Hampson is tied for second in doubles with 9. Tyler McClain, the slugfest leader last weekend, sits seventh in the GNAC with an average of .373 and an OPS of 1.056. McClain leads the 'Cats long ball hitters with three on the year including a grand slam.
