ELLENSBURG, Wash.-- The Central Washington volleyball team upset the American Volleyball Coaches Association #13 Ranked St. Cloud Saint Huskies in a dominant fashion with a 3-0 sweep. This win gave the 'Cats their second straight win, making them undefeated in the tournament and at home.
"It was a good win. The team really came out and established themselves on offense. I felt Sydney and Tia did a great job setting the offense again, and our middles really came through and created some confusion." Said CWU Head Coach

The Huskies opened the game in control as four straight kills put them up early 7-4. The 'Cats offense fought back quickly, a kill by
Tia Andaya brought them even at 13-13.
Back-to-back kills by
Kylee Yamashita led the 'Cats to an 18-15 lead late in the set.
Laynie Erickson and
Ashley Kaufman landed big kills to put the 'Cats at 23, then the Huskies helped out with a service error to bring us to set point. The 'Cats called on 5

Leanna Shymanski to close it out at the net with a big kill. 'Cats took the first set, 25-21.
The 'Cat's took their momentum into the second set without slowing down.
Tia Andaya followed an attack error by the Huskies and the 'Cats were out in front early, 6-2. The Huskies kept up with the 'Cats, as a kill from Maddie Torve gave the Huskies their first lead of the second set, 12-11.
The 'Cats began to outrun the dogs, as a three-point run by way of a kill from
Tia Andaya and a pair of attack errors put the 'Cats ahead 21-15. The Dog's tried to crawl back into it, and a kill by Rachel Linsey and a service ace by Maddy Torve had the Huskies trailing 23-24. An attack error closed the door on the doghouse in set two and the 'Cats took it 25-23.
In the final set the Huskies came out of the gate with life, trying to show that they earned their #13 AVCA spot. An attack error by the 'Cats and a kill from Rachel Houle gave the Huskies their final lead of the night, 4-2.
Kylee Yamashita kicked off a five-point scoring run for the 'Cats with a big kill.
Marianna Payne picked up two kills with a service ace by
Tia Andaya in between, and an attack error by the Huskies made it 7-4 in favor of the 'Cats.
The 'Cats began pulling ahead even further by way of a pair of kills from
Tia Andaya and a single from
Ashley Kaufman making it 17-10.
The Huskies were only able to tack on four more via a trio of errors and a single kill. A trio of attack errors propelled the 'Cats to match point for the heavy-handed
Marianna Payne to close it out. The Wildcats took the final set, 25-14.
