WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The accolades keep piling in for Central Washington University junior safety
Tanner Volk.
"We are extremely proud of all of the accomplishments that Tanner continues to receive," CWU Head Coach
Chris Fisk said. "We are excited for him, his family, and his teammates."
Volk can add D2CCA Ron Lenz Defensive Player of the Year to his resume which was announced Thursday morning. "I am extremely blessed and honored to receive this award," Volk said. "I never thought I would win this award and some of the accolades that I have received thus far. All these accomplishments go right back to my teammates and all the tremendous amounts of work that they have put into this past season."
University of Central Missouri quarterback Zach Zebrowski earned the D2CCA Ron Len Offensive Player of the Year. UTPB linebacker Hayden Kelly joined Volk as the only Lone Star Conference representatives.
The Ron Lenz National Player of the Year award was named for long-time South Dakota State Sports Information Director Ron Lenz in 2008. Lenz was instrumental in the foundation of the Division II All-America program beginning in 1993.
Volk helped guide the Wildcats to the team's first NCAA Playoff victory and first regional final appearance since the 2009 season.
