Wildcats Face Yellowjackets to Kick Off Nine Game Home Stand

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Central Washington Baseball (8-20, 4-8 GNAC) hosts Montana State Billings (11-13, 5-5 GNAC) in a four-game conference series on Friday and Saturday.

Games one and two vs Montana State Billings Friday, March 31st at noon and 3 p.m.
Games three and four vs Montana State Billings Saturday, April 1st at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Central Washington fell to Whitman College 5-7 last Wednesday. Charlie Larson roped an RBI double down the left field line which gave the 'Cats an early 4-1 advantage. The Blues fought back in the eighth hitting five singles in a row to take the 7-5 lead. The 'Cats couldn't get to Benjamin Seashore-Hobson in the final inning and Whitman got the win.
 
WILDCAT STATS
Trevor Tripoli leads The Wildcat's offense hitting .341 and not far behind him is Ben Leid hitting .307. Travis Helm leads the team with 22 RBIs and Sam Lauderdale has mashed five homers so far this season.

On the mound, Brayde Hirai and Daniel Charron are (2-3). Hirai has a 3.05 ERA and has fanned 12 batters in 38 innings. Daniel Charron has struck out 22 batters in 33 innings of work.
 
SCOUTING THE YELLOWJACKETS
Montana State Billings is 11-13 overall and 5-5 in GNAC play. The Yellowjackets played Western Oregon last week. MSUB won game one 17-7, lost game two 5-8, and games three and four were postponed.
 
Kaden Kirshenbaum and Payton Flynn lead the Yellowjacket's offense hitting .384 and .337 respectively. Kirshenbaum also leads the team in RBIs and home runs, driving in 26 runs and hitting 8 out of the park. Carson Green is hitting .309 and has 11 doubles so far this season.

On the mound, Jackson Betancourt and Daniel Naughton are the workhorses for MSUB. Bentacourt is 1-4 and leads the team in strikeouts fanning 33 batters. Naughton is 2-2 and has recorded 21 strikeouts in 28 innings of work.

Other pitchers the 'Cats could face: Cole Bertram (3.37 ERA), Cy Miller (5.40 ERA), Trevor Cassell (5.40 ERA), and Nolan Thebiay (6.75 ERA).

UP NEXT
The Wildcats continue their three-week home stand facing Saint Martin's in a conference clash on Friday, April 7th and Saturday, April 8th.
