ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Central Washington University Football Team landed at 21 in this weeks American Football Coaches Association Coaches Top 25 Poll.
The 'Cats have been featured in every poll this season starting out at eight before falling to 14, then climbing back up to nine, before landing at 21 this week. The crimson and black are still the sole Lone Star Conference team to appear in the top 25, but Angelo State has been consistent in the receiving votes category with Texas A&M-Kingsville and UT Permian Basin also making appearances throughout the season.
The reigning national champions are continuing their stranglehold on the top spot in the poll continuing their Great American Conference dominance with a 62-0 victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State last weekend. Grand Valley State, Valdosta State, Ferris State, and Kutztown all continue to hold their spots to round out the top five. Delta State, Findlay, and Indiana (Pa.) all fell out of the poll after suffering upsets last week making room for West Florida, Southern Arkansas, and Henderson State to all join the top 25.
CWU will be back in action next Saturday, Oct. 19 with a tall task of traveling to Kingsville, Texas to take on the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas (4-2, 3-1 LSC) at 5:00 p.m. PST kickoff from Pepsi Field at Javelina Stadium.
