Tanner Volk has been recognized as an All-American by the American Football Coaches Association, the Association announced early Wednesday morning.
The two-time reigning J.V. Sikes Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Year was tabbed to the Second Team All-American.
Volk, a two-time Harlon Hill Nominee recently declared for the NFL, led the Wildcats with 64 tackles, 28 solo and 36 assisted. He added 2.5 tackles for loss for a loss of four yards while adding four pass breakups and one forced fumble. He once again led CWU with six interceptions, returning them for 76 yards and one touchdown. He also had one reception on a fake punt play that resulted in a nine-yard gain.
Volk and the Wildcats earned their second consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II Playoffs, falling in the first round in a tight contest at 10th-ranked Western Colorado finishing with an 8-4 record and a second-place finish in the LSC.
