Wildcats Set to Battle Warriors in Turlock

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Central Washington Baseball (2-4) heads to Turlock, California this week for a four-game series against Stanislaus State (2-2-1) starting with game one on Friday at 5:00 p.m.

QUOTING HEAD COACH DESI STOREY
"The guys are looking forward to the challenge of playing another quality opponent. They are working hard to continue to improve across all aspects of our game and get better each week."

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
Stanislaus State opened their season with two wins over Menlo College before hosting Northwest Nazarene in a four-game series last week. The first game of the series was canceled, and the Warriors went 0-2-1 against the Nighthawks in the remaining games. Due to NNU needing to travel back to Nampa, the last game ended in the eighth tied at 12-12.

Alex Solis, Chris Catalano, and Jerry Nix are the top hitters for Stanislaus State. Solis is hitting a scorching .444 from the plate in five starts. He has eight hits, four doubles, four RBIs, four runs, and two walks in 18 at bats. Solis went 3-5 with three RBIs and a run scored in Stanislaus State's 12-12 tie against Northwest Nazarene.

Catalano is .389 at the plate so far this season. He has seven hits, one double, one RBI, and has scored six runs. Nix is hitting an even .300 with three hits, a double, a home run, six RBIs, and two runs scored.

Will Crookham has the lone win on the mound for the Warriors. He pitched one inning and got the win over Menlo College. Crookham threw five innings in his second outing and struck out three batters.

Trent Huff boasts a low 1.29 ERA in his two starts. Over his seven innings pitched, he has only allowed a run and fanned four batters.

LAST TIME OUT
The 'Cats split the four-game series against fourth-ranked Cal State San Bernardino last week. The 'Cats won game one 4-2 and game three 3-0. Cal State San Bernardino took games two and four, 6-3 and 8-4.

Ben Leid and Marcus Manzardo were solid at the plate all series. Leid had a hit in every game, two RBIs, and scored two runs. His homer late in game one helped the 'Cats secure the victory. Manzardo had seven hits in four games. He went 3-4 in game two and 2-4 at the plate to wrap up the series.

The pitching staff did a great job all around. Alex Brady retired nine batters in six innings of work in game one. Nolan Milliman picked up the game one win, throwing the final two innings and recording a strikeout.

In game three, Reid Rasmussen picked up his first win of the season in the 'Cats 3-0 win. Rasmussen pitched five and two-thirds scoreless innings, struck out seven batters, and only allowed two hits.
Drew Richardson recorded his first save of the season. In game three, he retired two batters and got the final four outs for the Wildcats.
