PORTLAND, Ore. – Two Central Washington University student-athletes raked in Great Northwest Athletic Conference Players of the Week after a pair of standout performances over the weekend.
Wildcat baseball outfielder
Ben Leid earned his first GNAC Player of the Week honor, helping the 'Cats earn a weekend split with Western Oregon at home. Leid finished the weekend with six hits and six RBI in 13 at-bats. Leid registered two bombs during the series and finished with three hits and four RBI in game three of the series.
Wildcat track and field thrower
Wes Kriete earned his first GNAC Athlete of the Week honor after earning top-10 in each of his four throws over the weekend and one new personal best. At the Whitworth Twilight on Thursday, Kriete finished third in shot put with a throw of 14.69 meters and fourth in discus with a throw of 43.77 meters. On Saturday at the Larry Byerly Lewis & Clark Invite, Kriete finished with a new personal best in shot put with a throw of 15.96 meters, good enough for second place. Kriete also finished seventh in discus with a throw of 44.64 meters.
