AUSTIN, Texas – Two Central Washington University Football student-athletes were named College Sports Communicators Academic All-American, announced Tuesday morning as
Tyler Flanagan repeated the honor earning First Team, while
Slade Edwards made his debut on the Second Team.
"We are extremely proud of Tyler and Slade in their accomplishment," Head CWU Football Coach
Chris Fisk said. "We are more excited and thankful for all of the Wildcats that helped to put them in this position."
Flangan, the two-time Lone Star Conference Offensive Back of the Year and D2CCA Super Region 4 Team member currently holds a 3.91 GPA in his master's in Occupational Safety & Health Management. This season was his second-straight 1,000-yard season finishing at the top of the LSC in rushing touchdowns with 14, as well as recording 12 receptions for 101 yards. He was a member of the CSC Second Team Academic All-American last season becoming the first Wildcat to earn the award since Garrett Rolsma in 2009.
Edwards can now add Academic All-American to his list of achievements this season that include being a member of the D2Football.com Elite 100, Don Hansen All-American, member of the Super Region 4 Team, as well as being named the LSC Offensive Lineman of the Year. He currently owns a 3.81 GPA in Mechanical Engineering Technology and has been an offensive line staple the past few seasons for the crimson and black helping the 'Cats have one of the top rushing attacks in NCAA Division II as the crimson and black finished with 3,090 total yards on the ground in 2024.
