THE WILDCATS
Central opened GNAC play with a strong 3-1 series win over Saint Martin's this past weekend. The Wildcats had a strong showing at the plate, especially for Marcus Manzardo, who recorded five RBIs in the series and seven hits.

The Crimson and Black opened the series with an 11-7 win on Saturday, March 1. The second game of the double header went to the ninth inning before it was halted due to a lack of lighting. However, that didn't hinder CWU's chances as the Wildcats went onto win in the 10th inning off a two-RBI double from Manzardo. The third game was a tougher showing for Central, losing 3-10 to the Saints before rebounding with a solid 5-2 win off strong pitching from Devin MacWatters, who pitched the entire seven-inning game.

SCOUTING THE WOLVES
Western Oregon has seen a rough start to its season, going 2-6 in its non-conference slate, and 1-3 in-conference. For each series the Wolves have played, they've been able to earn at least one win.

The Wolves have two batters who are performing well at the plate currently. Collin Irwin and Ruban Cedillo are hitting .258 and .231 respectively. Irwin has recorded eight hits and three RBIs in 31 at-bats, while Cedillo has recorded nine hits and three RBIs in 39 at-bats. John Oleson currently leads the team in RBIs with four total. The Wolves have a pair of pitchers that are performing very well on the mound. Devin Bell has pitched 18 and two-thirds innings, facing 62 batters. Of those batters, Bell has struck out 22, and allowed seven hits, four runs, and has a 1.93 ERA. The Wolves' other strong pitcher is Shane Bailey, who's pitching with a 0.68 ERA. Bailey has faced 48 batters in 13 and one-third innings and has struck out seven. He has allowed seven hits, three runs, but only one earned run.

The Wildcats and Wolves kick off the series Saturday, March 8 at the CWU Baseball Field. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
