THE WILDCATS
Central had a tough series last weekend against the Montana State Billings Yellowjackets, losing all four games. The Crimson and Black had strong games on the first day but MSUB struck late in the games to win 5-1 and 6-4. The second day saw the Yellowjackets strike early and play strong defense to hold off the Wildcats' comeback attempt to win the first game 11-8, while the second game sparked plenty of offense for MSUB to put away CWU early on.
The Wildcats were led in hitting by
Marcus Manzardo, who went 8-16 with four runs and three RBIs for a .500 batting average in the series.
Brandham Ponce continued to have strong performances at the plate, recording four RBIs, including three on day two's first game while also starting as the pitcher. Manzardo and Ponce both made it on base in every game in the series.
SCOUTING THE SAINTS
Saint Martin's has had a rough season, only winning one game this season. Their lone win, however, was against Central on March 2 in a 5-2 seven-inning victory.
The Saints have several strong aspects in their batting lineup including Alex Harnett and Kyle Schabot. Harnett is currently hitting .366 over 93 at-bats. He has an OPS percentage of 1.027 and has hit for 34 hits, 22 RBIs, 15 runs, and five home runs. Schabot is hitting .305 over 105 at-bats with a .727 OPS percentage. Schabot has hit for 32 hits, 17 RBIs, and 13 runs.
The Wildcats and Saints kick off the series on Friday, April 4. First pitch is set for noon from the CWU Baseball Field.
