ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Central Washington University Head Coach Ronnie Ladines is excited to announce an addition to the CWU Softball Staff for the 2025 season. Joining the 'Cats is former Fordham University softball standout and Selah, Washington native Sydney Wells.
 
"I am thrilled to welcome Sydney to our program," Ladines said. "She brings a dynamic energy, strong intensity, and a deep passion for the game that will undoubtedly elevate our team both on and off the field. I look forward to the impact she will make this season and beyond."
 
Sydney Wells established herself as one of the most productive hitters in Fordham history, ranking fifth all-time in RBIs (149), sixth in home runs (38), and seventh in walks drawn (90). A four-year starter behind the plate, she capped her career with a standout 2025 season, earning Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Year, First-Team All-Conference, and Second-Team NFCA All-Northeast Region honors. Wells set a program single-season record with a .533 on-base percentage and recorded the third-best slugging percentage in school history at .783, while ranking among the nation's leaders in walks, home runs, and RBIs. She started all 56 games, posting a .362/.533/.783 slash line with 55 hits, 17 home runs, 41 runs scored, and 52 RBIs.
 
Over her career, Wells consistently delivered power and run production. In 2024 she led the Rams with 47 RBIs while hitting .299 with 13 doubles and a .635 slugging percentage, and in 2023 she earned CSC Academic All-District honors while pacing the team in homers (8), RBIs (36), and slugging (.520). A 2022 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team selection, she quickly proved herself in conference play, hitting .323 with clutch extra-base hits. Beyond her offense, Wells provided steady defense and leadership as a catcher while excelling academically, earning multiple A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll selections and recognition as an Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete.
 
Prior to her time at Fordham, Wells was a standout at Selah High School just south of Ellensburg. At SHS she earned four varsity letters in softball, was a two-time captain, league MVP, and set the school home run record with 42. A USA Preps Top 25 prospect and Fastpitch Northwest MVP, she also won state titles with WA Angels and helped the WA Ladyhawks to a top-10 finish at PGF Nationals. In addition, she earned three varsity letters each in basketball and volleyball, earning All-League honors in both and helping Selah basketball to league and district titles.
 
Wells graduated from Fordham in 2025 with a degree in Engineering Physics.
