SPOKANE, Wash.- The Central Washington University track & field team is set to compete at The Podium for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Indoor Championships. After a strong regular season highlighted by numerous record-breaking performances and top marks, Central enters the meet poised to contend for the title. The Wildcats last captured the indoor conference championship in 2008, sharing the crown with Seattle Pacific University.

ABOUT THE MEET
This week's meet marks the conclusion of the indoor regular season for the Wildcats, as all nine GNAC programs gather for their first head-to-head competition of the year. Competition begins Monday at 9:00 a.m. with the heptathlon 60 meters, followed by the pentathlon 60-meter hurdles at 9:15 a.m. Day one wraps up with the women's distance medley relay final at 6:00 p.m., followed by the men's final at 6:25 p.m.
Tuesday's events open with the heptathlon 60-meter hurdles at 8:30 a.m., followed by the heptathlon pole vault at 9:05 a.m. The meet concludes with the women's 4x400-meter relay final at 2:30 p.m., the men's final at 2:45 p.m., and the awards ceremony at 3:05 p.m.
On the men's side,
Cal'von Baker will compete in the high jump and triple jump, while
Josh Boast is slated for the heptathlon and 60-meter hurdles. Freshman
Colton Magruder is set to make his GNAC Championships debut in the 60 and 200 meters.
Brady Holland will represent CWU in the shot put and weight throw as he looks to build on a strong season.
For the women,
Ashlyn Nielsen enters the meet after recording the eighth-fastest 60-meter time in GNAC history (7.56) and the sixth-fastest 200-meter time (24.16). She will compete in both events.
Elise Hopper also turned in a standout indoor campaign, posting the fourth-fastest 200-meter time in conference history (24.07) and the seventh-fastest 400-meter time (55.17). Hopper is scheduled to race in the 200 and 400 meters.
The reigning Division II national champion in the triple jump,
Emy Ntekpere returns for her third appearance at the GNAC Championships. Last season, she earned gold medals in both the long jump and triple jump, along with a silver medal in the high jump. She enters this year's meet tied for second nationally in the high jump (5-10.5, 1.79m) and ranked third in the triple jump (41-1.75, 12.54m). Ntekpere also owns the GNAC indoor records in both events, highlighted by her career-best mark of 42-8 (13.00m) in the triple jump. Ntekpere will also be competing in the 60-meter hurdles.

UP NEXT
The Wildcats will await confirmation of the qualifiers for the USATF Indoor Track & Field Championships, set for Saturday, February 28 through Monday, March 1. The competition will be held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, New York. Â
