Ntekpere Earns Silver and Bronze as Wildcats Take 15th at NCAA Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA.- The Central Washington University track & field team delivered an impressive showing at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships over the weekend, as four Wildcats combined for five All-American honors. The strong performances helped lead the women's team to a 15th-place finish in the final team standings.

ABOUT THE MEET
Five All-American Honors, including two First Team and three Second Team selections, highlighted a strong showing for the Crimson & Black.

Emy Ntekpere led the way, earning a silver medal with a second-place finish in the women's triple jump after recording a mark of 12.89 meters (42-3 ½). She followed that performance with a bronze medal in the women's high jump, clearing 1.79 meters (5-10 ½) to place third. With podium finishes in both events, Ntekpere earned All-American First Team honors in the triple jump and high jump, establishing herself as one of the meet's top multi-event competitors.

Elise Hopper finished 11th in the preliminary round of the women's 200 meters with a time of 24.00 seconds. Although she narrowly missed advancing to the final, the time matched her lifetime personal best and secured All-American Second Team honors.

Colton Magruder placed 16th in the preliminary round of the men's 60 meters, clocking a time of 6.76 seconds. While he did not advance to the finals, Magruder's performance earned him All-American Second Team honors, capping an impressive debut season.

Drew Klein finished ninth overall in the men's heptathlon, setting a new personal record with 5,235 points across the seven-event competition. Klein opened the meet with an 11th-place finish in the 60 meters (7.17 seconds), followed by a ninth-place mark of 6.68 meters (21-11) in the long jump and an 11th-place throw of 11.95 meters (39-2 ½) in the shot put. He cleared 1.79 meters (5-10 ½) in the high jump to place 14th before delivering strong performances on the second day, including a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.36 seconds and a fourth-place clearance of 4.75 meters (15-7) in the pole vault. Klein closed the competition with a seventh-place finish in the 1,000 meters, crossing the line in 2:54.06. His overall performance earned All-American Second Team honors.
  
 
UP NEXT
The Wildcats now shift their focus to the outdoor season as they travel to Eugene, Oregon, to compete in the Oregon Preview hosted by the University of Oregon. The meet will take place at Hayward Field and is scheduled for Friday, March 20 through Saturday, March 21.
